EAT C-Sharp with system: Ortofon MC Quintet Black

The EAT C-Sharp turntable with its flat carbon outfit is no bargain, but its performance is significantly above its price class. An impressive high-end record player, equipped with a C-Note tonearm from European Audio Team.

With the C-Sharp, EAT has designed an interestingly flat record player, which is equipped with the materials Carbon Fiber and Thermoplastic Elastomer. The low-base chassis is made of high-density MDF. Due to the flat construction, the turntable stands perfectly on any surface. On this base is an extremely quiet motor and the ten energy-absorbing decoupling cones made of TPE that support the sandwich sub-chassis. To stiffen and increase stability, the MDF panel of the subchassis was bonded with a carbon fibre panel. The stiffness is of high importance so that no movement tolerance can occur between the turntable and the tonearm. Any disturbing energy is dissipated through the subchassis to the TPE absorbers. In reverse, the TPE absorbers ensure that no ambient vibrations are transmitted to the subchassis or to the tonearm.

The platter bearing is a large inverse with an inert, resonance-free ceramic ball on top of which is a substantial 700g mass point that absorbs all the energy. The stiff carbon sub-frame drive arm helps to unite all disturbing vibrations in this mass point and eliminate them accordingly. The platter belt is made from a special anti-static rubber.

The C-Sharp is equipped with EAT's own 10.5 inch tonearm, the C-Note tonearm. Here, the advantages of a UniPivot design and a cardan design have been excellently implemented. The uni-axis in the middle contributes to the fact that the bearing is only slightly stressed. The established gimbal bearing ensures significantly high stability and easy handling with extremely low friction. In order to achieve more than 50% damping of the resonances of tonearm and cartridge, there is a special silicon-based grease inside the tonearm. The arm tube of the C-Note is made of carbon and its metal parts of polished aluminium, which creates a visually beautiful symbiosis with the chassis. The smooth-running arm has a damped tonearm lift and an anti-skating device.
