With the TD 124 DD, Thorens revives one of its most legendary models. The successful basic concept of the original TD 124 has been consistently developed further with modern approaches and now enables a completely new reproduction quality.

• THORENS TD 124 DD - TRADITION MEETS INNOVATION

The TD 124 was first introduced in 1957 and served for decades in countless radio studios all over the world. But ambitious music lovers also quickly discovered the enormously precise record player for use at home; a dedicated fan community remains loyal to the legendary record player to this day.

Thorens is now continuing this tradition with the completely redesigned TD 124 DD, adding innovative technologies. The puristic design and basic construction are based on the original, but the height-adjustable aluminium chassis now rests on vibration-damping rubber elements. Instead of the original drive with friction wheel and belt, a "High Precision" direct drive is used in the new TD 124 DD. This has a powerful torque, enables precise speed control and keeps disturbing influences of the drive away from the turntable.

The TP 124 tonearm, which is also new, can be precisely adjusted in all parameters to the cartridge used and features an innovative anti-skating solution with ruby bearings. In addition, the TD 124 DD features a patented new electric tonearm lift that ensures gentle insertion and removal of the needle.

In addition to the extensive adjustment options, the included headshell provides a great deal of flexibility in the choice of cartridge. The scope of delivery also includes an additional, somewhat heavier counterweight that fits the separately available Thorens SPU TD 124 pickup. This is a version of the equally legendary Ortofon SPU specially adapted to the TD 124 DD, which Thorens has developed together with Ortofon for fans of the special.

Thorens has consistently developed the new TD 124 DD for the highest sonic demands. A high-quality external power supply provides an interference-free power supply, and for connection to high-end systems, in addition to the unbalanced outputs, there are also balanced XLR connections, which, with an appropriately equipped phono preamplifier, guarantee optimum signal transmission and thus the best possible sound.
