VPI set its sights on a new analog benchmark – one that rivals the sound of founder Harry Weisfeld's Ampex ATR-102 tape machine – in the form of the Titan turntable. Titan is based around a 44-pound slave platter driving the main bearing, a system that imparts no background noise. Its built-in air-suspension, leveling feet isolate a measured 98% of all loudspeaker feedback and vibration. The Fat Boy tonearm delivers improved sound staging and an indescribably controlled bottom end.
