Dynavox TC-5B Phono Preamplifier

The TC-5B is the brand new phono preamplifier for MM systems from Dynavox. It is used when a turntable is to be connected to an amplifier without a phono input or when an internal phono connection does not meet the sound requirements. In phono preamplifiers, the extremely small signal from the record player is amplified and equalised and thus prepared for connection to an amplifier. These signals are very sensitive to interference of all kinds, which can manifest itself in the form of disturbing noise or hum. With the TC-5B, therefore, in addition to the sound characteristics, great importance was attached to minimising this interference. In addition to the well-shielded and high-quality metal housing with a solid 4 mm aluminium front and rear, the TC-5B has an external power supply to minimise interference. In addition, however, the TC-5B offers a top feature that is unusual in its price class, as it has been given the additional option of switching from power supply via mains adapter to power supply via battery operation (9V block). Depending on the turntable or the set-up of the system, this can make a huge difference to the sound. A standard alkaline 9V battery (not included) is sufficient for about 40 hours of music enjoyment.
